Alison Espach is an American novelist and writer who wrote a brilliant and inventive comedic series for audio-only. And rightfully so, this ‘concept’ works best on audio.
The series also has one of the most intriguing yet clear titles - “IN-DEPTH MARKET RESEARCH INTERVIEWS WITH DEAD PEOPLE.” It is exactly what it sounds like recently dead people (or sometimes a singular person) in purgatory, being interviewed by a market researcher for a brand that the deceased person(s) either used or has stopped using recently. Secrets emerge, revelations are made, and, most importantly, brand loyalty is tested.
There are three in-depth interviews, and I would be happy to listen if these were monthly or even weekly. All three ‘episodes’ - Volvo, Tempur-Pedic, Bounty - are voiced by a different set of actors and they are all great.
