What to Watch: Part 2: Sports but different.
Marble Sports - the greatest sports viewing experience on the internet.
I am not a fan of sports. I don't watch football or my nation's favourite pass-time - cricket (I am weird and quirky that way). The little bit of sports I do watch tends to be individual sports - tennis, table tennis, or my recent favourite - crokinole (check it out - it’s a Canadian sport - like carrom + curling). A caveat is that I only WATCH these sports on YOUTUBE. (As I write more on this substack - you will realize just how big a piece YouTube takes up in my entertainment pie. (As I write more on this substack - you will ALSO realize how many brackets I use - or how many WORDS I capitalise in the middle of sentences)).
But the greatest sport to enjoy on YouTube is ‘marble sports’ - and the greatest practitioner of marble sports is Jelle’s Marbles.
They post videos of several marbles ‘competing’ in a mock stadium with marble-audience members, marble sports leagues and marble sports teams.
There are two main types of videos (nay-leagues)
Marble League (formerly MarbleLympics) - with an assortment of sports - high jump, sand relay races, marble marathons and MANY MANY more
Marbula One - fashioned after the Formula One (of course)

The sound mixing is fantastic: the added crowd noises - cheering and booing the marbles, fantastic (and neutral) commentary by Greg Woods, the camera work is fantastic and the sets gets better with each iteration.
You would be surprised how quickly you will start rooting for a team.

See you next time!
