What to Watch: Part 5: KuchBhi?
Comedy, Podcasts, Music - is there anything this guy can't do? Yes - but this is a space for celebration and not criticism.
Aakash Mehta (who goes by several other names - KuchBhiMehta , notkuchbhimehta, Mangesh) is a comedian based out of Mumbai. He has also been podcasting for quite some time now. He used to co-host a podcast called 'Varta Lab' (‘Varta’ is Gujarati for ‘stories’) with Navin Noronha; with the IVM podcast Network.
He has since started another podcast called - Aakash Mehta and Friends (AMF) where he talks with his comedian friends (I know right, another comedian with a podcast! But this is quite good, trust me). The episodes are divided into two halves- one about life and the other about comedy.
He recorded thirteen episodes in a nice studio like space - but then moved to recording over Zoom, after the coronavirus pandemic (this is a recurring theme - you may have noticed).
Since the last month or two he has been releasing the podcasts (audio and video) exclusively on his website. While I don't have the time to watch/listen to as many of these interviews as I would like - but I can still attest to the stellar experience of using the website. Not being able to listen to the podcasts on an app of my choice is a bummer; but consider this - the podcast is wholly user funded (the funds go towards equipment and hiring editors). Drawing people to the website also has other benefits - he can sell his shows, ask people to donate etc.
My favourite episode by far is the one he recorded with Cyrus Broacha. I have also greatly enjoyed all the times Aakash has appeared on Cyrus’s podcast (which I love so much - it is best if I not try and put my feelings into words - but here’s the link - link).
So, if the fact that the great Cyrus Broacha enjoys having Aakash on his show again and again is not enough for you - you might wanna check out his online shows.
